[Limited to March-August] Kids & Families Welcome! Discover the secrets of Lake Hamana and the seagrass found by boat.　

Just a three-minute walk from JR Bentenjima Station, you can board a boat and head out to Lake Hamana! Why not spend some time on a digital detox, feeling the scent of the ocean, the breeze, and listening to the sound of the waves? You can also take a boat tour of the eelgrass beds, where eelgrass, also known as the "cradle of the sea," grows and is a hiding place for clams and other small creatures in Lake Hamana. You can listen to stories about the life of eelgrass and Lake Hamana, take commemorative photos, and create memories for your family, or for your children's independent research and leisure activities.

If, as of 13:XNUMX PM the day before, a warning or advisory is expected for severe weather or high temperatures on the following day, or if the operator and the Foundation determine that it will be difficult to depart, the tour may be canceled. Please take precautions against heatstroke. You may get wet in seawater, so please be careful with your clothing and footwear. This tour will be conducted in Japanese only.

What you can experience in this tour

1. Meet in front of the pier in Bentenjima Seaside Park

From Hamamatsu Station, take the local line to the south exit of JR Bentenjima Station, which is three stops away. Just a three-minute walk will bring you to Lake Hamana!

If you are coming by car, there is a parking lot next door (410 yen/day)

Please use the red Maisaka Town Symbol Tower as a landmark and come to the pier in Bentenjima Seaside Park.

 

2. After listening to the explanation of precautions to take on the boat, put on a life jacket and board the boat.

 

 

 

3. Take a sightseeing tour of Lake Hamana, visit the eelgrass beds and observe the eelgrass.

You can take a boat tour around the Bentenjima area and, depending on the season, you may also be able to see oyster farms.

Sometimes you'll even see a Shinkansen train passing by as you pass under the iron bridge. This is a great opportunity to see it up close, and is a big hit with children who love Shinkansen trains.

 

When you arrive at the eelgrass bed, where the eelgrass grows in large numbers, you will use underwater observation glasses (rental) to carefully observe the eelgrass.

Eelgrass is a habitat for small snails and clams, and its presence calms the currents of the ocean, providing a hiding place for young fish and small fish, making them less likely to be found by predators. Eelgrass is an important "cradle of the ocean" for small creatures until they grow to a certain size.

You can also ask the boatman for more details while on board.

For children who wish to study for independent research or leisure, we will also provide them with a "Lake Hamana Deserted Island Guidebook."

 

 

4. Commemorative photo in front of Maisaka Town Symbol Tower

The boat will dock close to the red symbolic tower, allowing you to take commemorative photos from the boat.

 

5. Return to the pier at Bentenjima Seaside Park by boat

 

 

★Option: "Play on the rocks at the uninhabited island of Ikari-se" (additional fee of 500 yen/person, payable on site)

You can enjoy exploring the tide pools on Ikari-se, an uninhabited island floating in Lake Hamana.

The 45-minute boat ride and rock play option has no time limit, so you can enjoy it while the tide is out.

*The dates for which tickets are on sale are when the tide levels are low, calculated from the estimated tide table, so it is expected that you will be able to enjoy playing on the rocks.
*These are only estimated tide levels, and may change depending on the weather the day before.

 

◎Life jackets, footwear, nets, and buckets are available for rental. You can come empty-handed!

You can also take commemorative photos right underneath the red symbolic tower.

 

 

 

★In autumn, try planting seagrass seeds!

[October & November Only] Sow seagrass seeds from a boat! A nature experience that nurtures the future of Lake Hamana.

Would you like to try growing eelgrass in Lake Hamana with your own hands? We will be offering eelgrass seed-sowing experiences for a limited time from October to November.

You can see how the seagrass, grown from seeds sown in the fall, has grown by participating in the "Meeting Seagrass and the Secrets of Lake Hamana by Boat" experience from March onwards.
