[Hama-Two 2026 Special Event] The more you wear them, the more unique they become. Create, wear, and nurture your own suede engineer boots: A suede engineer boot making experience.

A flat piece of leather gradually takes shape in the hands of a craftsman, eventually becoming a pair of shoes.
This is an authentic workshop where you can experience the most crucial part of shoemaking, "lasting," with your own hands, alongside Mr. Ota, a craftsman with over 20 years of experience.
You can customize the size, leather color, stitching, and sole to your liking. Each pair of shoes, created at the Wakutsu shoe workshop in Mikatahara, will mold to your feet the more you wear them, growing and evolving along with your travels.
The moment you finish your run, take off your boots, and put on these, you can finally breathe a sigh of relief. We create those "one-of-a-kind shoes" just for you.

    Size (23.0-28.0cm), leather color, stitching, sole specifications, etc., will be determined during the initial consultation.
    　*While we recommend visiting our store for a consultation, if that's difficult, we can also handle inquiries through our reservation system or by phone.
    Please wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty, as your clothes may get dirty during the work.
    The fishing experience will be completed in 4 hours on the day, but the finished product will be handed over approximately 2 months later (you can pick it up in person, have it delivered (additional shipping fee applies), or pick it up at the morning cafe on November 29th). Please specify your preferred method of pickup in the "Customer Requests" section when applying.

Time spent working with leather in the workshop in Mikatahara

Mikatahara, Chuo Ward, Hamamatsu City. The setting for this experience is Wakutsu, a shoe workshop specializing in motorcycle boots that receives a constant stream of orders from riders all over the country.

All the shoes produced here, including their flagship "Samurai Series (Special Attack Boots)," are made from genuine leather. The wisdom and skill of the craftsmen have solved one by one the problems that riders face, such as "the size doesn't fit" and "synthetic leather falls apart quickly."

 

A pair of shoes where the craftsman's handiwork and "passion" come together.

Representative Katsuhisa Ota is a professional craftsman with over 20 years of experience, having honed his skills in Asakusa. He has consistently created shoes that perfectly fit each individual wearer's feet, focusing on "fine-tuning to match the thickness of the calf" and "a commitment to natural leather."

This project originally stemmed from the idea of ​​creating "comfortable shoes" that bikers, who have been riding all day in uncomfortable riding boots, could easily change into when they stop somewhere.

Of course, this is also recommended for people who don't usually ride motorcycles, or for those who want to create their own custom boots.

 

What you can experience in this tour

1. Before the experience, we will decide on the colors and design through a pre-consultation (this can be done in person, through our reservation system, or by phone).
2. On the day of the experience, you will experience the "tsurikomi" process while wearing traditional Japanese shoes (approximately 4 hours).
3. Approximately two months after your experience date, you will receive notification from Wagutsu that your shoes are ready, and you will pick them up at Wagutsu. (Home delivery is also available; additional shipping charges will apply.)

The joy of choosing colors and creating your own unique pair of shoes.

The experience begins with choosing the leather color beforehand. The impression changes dramatically depending on your selection, such as matching the strap and stitching colors to the vibrant suede. Some even choose colors that match their beloved motorcycles, such as Honda's blue and white, Kawasaki's green, or Harley-Davidson's blue.

* You can customize everything to your liking, from size and leather color to stitch color and sole specifications.

 

Once the design is decided, it's time for the "lasting" process on the day of the experience. A flat piece of leather (upper) is placed on a wooden last, and using special tools, it is pulled and shaped into a three-dimensional shoe.

 

Even if you don't understand the technical terms or complicated procedures, Ms. Ota will explain everything carefully, so even beginners can feel at ease.

Receiving the finished product

The work on the day of the experience was completed in about 4 hours.

After that, Ms. Ota will spend time sewing and finishing the item, which will take about 1-2 months to complete (you do not need to visit the store during the finishing period).

Having honed his skills in Asakusa, Tokyo, he has over 20 years of experience as a shoemaker. He runs a motorcycle boot specialty shop called "Wakutsu" in Mikatahara, Hamamatsu, and is in charge of the "Samurai Series (Special Attack Boots)," which are constantly in demand from riders all over the country. He solves problems such as "the boots don't fit" and "synthetic leather wears out quickly" by using natural leather and handcrafting each pair, and continues to deliver boots that are tailored to the wearer's feet.
